Facts:
  • This book takes place at Harvard, a college in Massachusetts.
  • Eduardo Saverin, one of the main characters, is a sophomore studying business.
  • He is looking to be invited into the Phoenix-S K; a prestigious club that only allowed a certain number of sophomores to enter a year.
  • Phoenix is considered the social king of the hill that throws the best parties, and allows you to know the most important people.
  • The Punch Process: the process that the Phoenix uses to limit the amount of sophomores until they have the amount they want in the club.

Important Moments:
· Eduardo’s house throws a party, which Mark Zuckerberg, also a sophomore, shows up to, and they become friends shortly after that..
· Mark creates Facesmash.com; he is drunk while doing this. He hacks into all of the houses’ network systems and steals all of the pictures, info, etc.
· Facesmash.com was a site in which it gave you two pictures of two girls and you rated them; the website became such a big hit in a short time that Mark was forced to shut it down because it was screwing up his computer.
· At around the same time Mark created FaceSmash, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, two twins who did crew, were also looking to develop a website called the Harvard Connection with their friend Divya Narenda; it allowed these guys who had basically no lives to meet girls online without the wandering and time wasting that was usually involved in doing this.

Facts:
  • Eduardo is now apart of the Phoenix.
  • The Winklevoss twins are looking to create the Harvard Connection, a website that allows guys and girls to hook up and meet.
  • They hear about Mark Zuckerberg and what he can do with computers so they plan to get in touch with him for help in launching their website.
  • Zuckerberg survived any academic damages, but his reputation had taken a different turn; with girls to be specific.
  • Mark agrees to meet with the twins about their website.
  • Mark puts all of his focus on the Facebook and all of his schoolwork so he falls behind on Harvard Connection. Mark also tells them that he doesn't know how well their site is going to turn out.
  • Because of the Facebook, Eduardo and Mark are slowly gaining popularity among girls.
  • Sean Parker created Napster and another site. Both were successful until they were discovered and shut down.

Important Moments:
  • Mark meets Eduardo at a downtown restaurant to tell him his idea; the Facebook. It was more complex than the Harvard Connection, in which people could put up pictures and information about themselves in order to meet new people.
  • He comes to Eduardo in need of start off cash; $1000. they also decide to split the profits; 70% for Mark and 30% for Eduardo. He is named the company's CFO.
  • Mark creates the Facebook; it is only open to Harvard students who have an email account.
  • Mark's story reaches the Crimson, Harvard's newspaper, and Divya and the Winklevoss twins are beside themselves.
  • He (Zuckerberg) admits to setting it up in less than a week; and it already has 650 members.
  • Tyler makes a call to his dad to get a lawyer so they can set things straight with Zuckerberg,
  • Mark receives an email in which he is given the option to shut down his website and record it on paper, or he can face legal issues. Mark defended himself by sending something back saying he didn't do anything wrong and the websites were totally different.
  • We meet a new character, Sean Parker, who is also into creating and hacking into sites as Mark is, and the three of them go out to dinner one night for a chat.

Week 3: Michelle

Summary:
Eduardo is living in New York, while the rest of the crew, which includes Mark, Dustin and new member Sean Parker. While Eduardo is out in New York tying to do business and get companies to take part in the Facebook, the three of them in Sacramento are out partying and showing thefacebook to different schools. Eduardo becomes angry that he is not involved in any sort of business with the company, and decides to close thefacebook's bank account.
Mark and Sean Parker take matters into their own hands and ask for help from a company that lends them $200,000. Thefacebook is still growing, and more colleges across the country are adopting this website for their school.


Week 4: Michelle

Summary:
Thefacebok shortens its name to just Facebook. Mark and Sean have basically cut Eduardo out of the group, without his consent.


Week 5: Michelle

Summary:
It has become apparent that the only thing Mark cares about is Facebook; it is almost like his child. Sean is at a party and the cops come, which causes Mark to cut him out of the group as well.
In the end, Mark owes money to many people; the Winklevoss twins, Eduardo Saverin, and Sean Parker. They all receive the fair amount, but in the end Mark along with Dustin is the only one who puts his full attention to facebook.
